From April next year, all companies, regardless of size or usage levels, will have the opportunity to choose their own water provider. While there is still a lot of uncertainties around the deregulation process, below are the top 5 things you need to know right now.
What will it mean for my business?
Deregulation opens water up to a competitive marketplace and will see new and existing suppliers vying for business. More competition should see prices lower and value added services improve.
When can I look at changing my supplier?
While the market officially opens up in April, we’ll see changes begin to happen from this October.
How do I know who the new suppliers are?
All suppliers need to confirm whether they want to stay in the market and new suppliers will have to position themselves by October.
How will the switching process work?
Businesses can give notice of their intention to switch from October, but if they are happy to stay with their existing supplier they don’t need to do anything.
Is there anything I can do right now?
Do your research. Businesswise is already working closely with suppliers to understand what their offers will be come October and others will be doing the same.
