The record-breaking fat Elvis is to support Businesswise Solutions’ charity challenge to raise £10,000 for Pendleside Hospice.
Riding high on the accolade of becoming the fastest fat Elvis to run the London Marathon, back in April, he will join colleagues, friends, family in donning walking boots to tackle Pendle’s three highest peaks on Saturday, September 22nd to support the charity close to his heart.
The Pendle Three Peaks Challenge has been organised by Nelson energy procurement and management company, Businesswise Solutions, in a bid to raise £10,000 for Pendleside Hospice, with Businesswise generously committing to match any donation up to £5,000.
As a collective, the aim is to walk 1000 miles during the day – and participants can choose to walk all three peaks or a single peak of their choice – every single mile helps towards the final total.
The 27-mile loop will take in Pendle’s Boulsworth Hill, Weets Hill and of course Pendle Hill, all which offer stunning views across the borough; the three trig points each marking the next step of victory.
Frazer Durris, Businesswise Solutions’ managing director, said:
“We committed to Pendleside Hospice as our charity of the year back in January, and while we have completed a series of small events and supported other people’s efforts, we wanted to do something big, that we could really get stuck into as a team.
“At the same time, the Hospice approached us to take part in their 2018 Corporate Challenge, which was even more of an incentive to book a date and set the ball rolling.
“Many of us have been touched by Pendleside Hospice during our lives, myself included, and I think we all agree that they do a fantastic job; this is our way of saying ‘thank you” for the incredible work they do and to help them fund further vital care into the future.”
Businesswise employee and key organiser for the event, Paula Walsh, said:
“There’s been a lot of enthusiasm shown by people wanting to join us for the trek, as well as those who want to support us in other ways. Northern Relish, on the Lomeshaye Village Business Estate, is donating food to fuel the journey, Vertex Vehicles have donated a camper van for the pit stops and friends and family have agreed to man water stops.
Walkers doing the full loop will meet at Barley Car Park at 7am, ready to trek uphill and down dale towards Boulsworth in Trawden. First peak complete, the group will continue towards Barnoldswick to conquer Weets before moving towards Pendle Hill, the final peak.
Let’s just hope Elvis doesn’t choose to wear his ‘blue suede shoes’….
