Businesswise Solutions chooses Safenet as its Christmas charity for 2024

At Businesswise Solutions, giving back to our local community is a core part of our values, especially during the holiday season, a time that can be particularly challenging for many.

This Christmas we asked our staff to choose a charity to support, and they voted overwhelmingly to support Safenet, a domestic abuse charity and refuge with branches across the North West, including Burnley.

Safenet provides vital support and information for those affected by any type of domestic abuse. Their services include safe houses, recovery refuges, dedicated support for women and children, as well as tailored programs for men and young people. Safenet’s mission is to empower individuals to take back control of their lives and build a future free from abuse.

We know how important these services are, and we want to be able to give Safenet the support they need so they can get on with doing what they do best—supporting those in domestic abuse situations.

Every penny donated, including Gift Aid contributions from UK taxpayers, will go directly to Safenet. This ensures the funds are used where they’re needed the most. And to support the effort of the staff, the business will match staff and public donations with an extra contribution before making this available to Safenet during December.

To help boost donations, one of our Energy Managers, Calum Craig, has decided to do a personal challenge of his own. He’s climbing Dunmore Hill, Scotland’s answer to Pendle Hill, a total of 25 times before we break for Christmas on December 20th. For every successful climb, Calum will contribute to our Safenet donation pot. It’s a steep hill and a big challenge, but we’re confident Calum will achieve it!

Christmas Charity Update

Thanks to the kindness and generosity of colleagues, the amazing achievement of Calum Craig completing his Dunmore Hill challenge and his supporters, we raised a fantastic £1,040 for Safenet Domestic Abuse Services.

This is an incredible amount that Safenet can use to continue their much-needed services to those in domestic abuse situations. We are grateful for all the donations received and thank everyone for getting involved.

Domestic abuse affects millions of people, regardless of age, gender, location, religion, sexuality, or financial status. No one should feel unsafe or unhappy in a relationship, and it doesn’t matter what type of relationship it is—family, friend, or spousal. Safenet offers a safe space, practical advice, and compassionate support to help individuals break free from abuse and rebuild their lives.

If you’d like to support Safenet and contribute to this meaningful cause, please visit their website. Together, we can help Safenet provide comfort, safety, and hope to those who need it most this Christmas.

For anyone in need of assistance, Safenet is here to help. You can reach out confidentially by calling 0300 3033 581 or emailing contact@safenet.org.uk.
