Chadwicks of Bury

Chadwicks of Bury, a leading innovator of heat seal pre-cut lids and shrink sleeves have boosted their sustainability and cut costs, with the help of their energy partner Businesswise Solutions.

The manufacturer of printed packaging has signed a renewable flex energy contract which will come into effect from April 2020. Chadwicks will move onto 100% renewable energy – making the shift from their previous nuclear energy contract. This is a big statement from an energy-intensive user, and it sends a message out across the industry.

By joining Businesswise’s Renewable Energy Basket, Chadwick’s will gain all the benefits of renewable energy, without the big drawback: higher costs. By pooling together their resources with others within the basket, Chadwicks now enjoy increased bargaining power with the supplier and access to economies of scale previously unachievable.

Chadwicks of Bury Supply Chain Manager, Carolyn Sheridan said:

“Improving energy efficiency has always been an important consideration for us as a company – it’s one of the most cost-effective ways for businesses like ourselves to reduce our energy consumption and associated bills, and importantly pass on savings to our customers. However, in recent years our attention has also turned towards how we reduce our carbon emissions through our energy usage.

The team at Businesswise Solutions have been supportive throughout the decision-making process, providing us with all the options. Their renewable energy basket will allow us to purchase energy from UK-based renewable sources for the business at competitive prices.”

Frazer Durris, CEO of Businesswise added:

“The rising pressure for businesses, especially manufacturers to become sustainable is at the forefront of consumer minds, so to be able to work with the team at Chadwicks on their sustainability journey has been great.

And to be able to provide them with a procurement product that works for their business and helps them get closer to their sustainability goals is really rewarding.”

It doesn’t stop there for Chadwicks, the team will continue to explore other sustainable initiatives to support its business, as well as its customers, in achieving important environmental targets.
